Preparation:

• Ensure that the device is fully charged or connected to a power source.
• Make sure the file clip, lip hook, and file probe are properly attached and autoclaved for sterilization.
• Check that the LCD screen is clean and in good condition for clear visibility.

Patient Preparation:

• Inform the patient about the procedure and obtain their consent.
• Ensure that the patient does not have a pacemaker, other implanted electrical devices, allergies to metals, or any contraindications mentioned in the user manual.
• Provide appropriate anesthesia to the patient before starting the endodontic procedure.

Device Setup:

• Turn on the Woodpecker DTE DPEX V Apex Locator by pressing the power button.
• Allow the device to go through the initialization process.
• Adjust the screen brightness if needed to ensure a clear image display.

Apical Positioning:

• Select the appropriate file size for the root canal treatment.
• Carefully insert the file into the root canal until the file tip reaches the apical constriction.
• Attach the file clip to the file handle and connect it to the device.
• Place the lip hook on the patient's lip to hold the file securely.

Measurement Procedure:

• Observe the real-time display on the LCD screen showing the moving file in the root canal.
• Listen to the sound emitted by the device during the measurement.
• Pay attention to any changes in the sound, as they can indicate the position of the file in the root canal.

Reading and Recording:

• Once the device indicates that the file tip has reached the apical constriction, note the measurement on the display.
• Carefully remove the file from the root canal, ensuring minimal disruption to the measurement.
• Record the determined working length for reference during the endodontic treatment.

Post-Procedure:

• Clean and disinfect the file clip, lip hook, and file probe following proper sterilization protocols.
• Turn off the Woodpecker DTE DPEX V Apex Locator and store it in a safe place.
