  • For the extraction of mandibular teeth, the patient should be positioned in a more upright position so that when the mouth is opened widely, the occlusal plane is parallel to the floor. 
  • The chair should be lower than for extraction of maxillary teeth.
  • The blades of extraction forceps are wedge-shaped to dilate the socket 
  • Lower forceps have handles at right angles to the blade
  • For the mandibular teeth, the palm is kept on top of the forceps
  • In extraction of left mandibular molars, the middle and index fingers of left hand grips and supports the alveolar process around the tooth being extracted, while the thumb is used to support the mandible.
  • In extraction of right mandibular teeth, the operator should stand at the right side and behind the chair and the left hand comes from the other side to support the alveolus with the thumb and index finger while the other fingers support the mandible. 

The following movements are performed for extraction of mandibular molars:

  •  Apical grip
  • Buccal movement
  • Lingual movement
  • Dilation of the socket and final delivery.

Lower molar extraction forceps no 22 with pointed buccal and lingual beaks is used for extraction of mandibular molars - both right and left. 

Waldent Extraction Forceps is a perfect need for extractions in minor oral surgery. Tooth Extracting forceps are used to extract teeth designed for use in specific areas of the mouth. The beak is shaped to confirm snugly to the contour of the tooth. Dental forceps handles are shaped so that a maximum amount of force can be applied to the beaks, while the handles are still in a comfortable position for the oral surgeon.
