MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Must clean after every use with warm water to remove blood , tissues and mucus from the instruments
  • Ultrasonic cleaning is recommended for all the instruments specially articulated instruments such as forceps, rongeurs, etc
  • Use only standard and reputed brand of disinfectant solutions.

STERILIZATION:

  • We recommend that the temperature does not exceed 120C
  • Dry heat sterilization see that temperature does not exceed 180C and there should be no long exposure as this would cause discoloration, loss of temper and this in turn would disturb the hardening of the instrument
  • Do not use substandard chemicals or disinfectants as they can damage the instruments
  • Avoid use of unsuitable highly acidic chlorine-containing agents
  • Use Demineralized water only
  • Never rub an instrument with a metal brush at the time of cleaning.

 

  • Preparation: Ensure the pliers are clean and sterilized before each use according to the provided maintenance and sterilization instructions.
  • Grasping: Hold the pliers firmly with the appropriate hand grip, ensuring a comfortable and secure hold.
  • Target Area: Identify the wire or clasp that needs adjustment within the patient's mouth.
  • Positioning: Position the pliers carefully to grasp the wire or clasp securely without causing discomfort to the patient.
  • Gentle Pressure: Apply gentle pressure to the handles of the pliers to close the beaks around the wire or clasp. Avoid excessive force to prevent damage.
  • Adjustment: Once the wire or clasp is securely grasped, make the necessary adjustments as per the treatment plan. This may involve bending, twisting, or repositioning the wire or clasp.
  • Verification: After making adjustments, verify the positioning and alignment of the wire or clasp to ensure it meets the desired outcome.
  • Reassessment: If further adjustments are needed, repeat the process as necessary, always prioritizing patient comfort and safety.
  • Post-Procedure Care: After use, clean the pliers thoroughly with warm water to remove any debris or residue.

Three-prong orthodontic pliers are useful for grasping wires and clasps for intraoral archwire adjustments as well as for lingual arch adjustments. It can have a wide range of beak characteristics, and maybe long and tapered for hard-to-reach quadrants or short and stubby for firmer control.
