Preparation:

• Use a burr to smooth any frayed ends to facilitate insertion and prevent irritation

Securing the Wire:

• For added retention or rotation control, employ figure-eight ligatures or steel ties as needed

Final Checks:

• Trim any excess wire at the distal ends using a distal end cutter, ensuring no sharp ends remain to irritate the patient’s cheeks or gums
• Confirm that the archwire is fully seated and comfortable for the patient
