  • Prepare the Archwire: After placing the archwire through the brackets and buccal tube, ensure the distal (posterior) end extends slightly beyond the tube
  • Position the Plier: Place the small, serrated tips of the cinch back plier close to the distal end of the archwire, just behind the buccal tube
  • Secure the Wire: Grip the wire firmly with the plier’s serrated tips to prevent slippage during bending
  • Bend the Wire: Using the plier, bend the distal end of the archwire 90° away from the buccal tube to "cinch back" the wire. This prevents the wire from sliding out and improves patient comfort
  • Final Check: Ensure the bent wire is flush against the tube and not causing irritation to the patient’s cheek or soft tissue
  • Small, Precision Tips: Specifically designed for accurate cinch back bends in tight posterior areas

Description

The OSL Cinch Back Plier is a specialized orthodontic instrument designed for bending and securing the distal ends of archwires, particularly in the posterior region of the mouth. It is commonly used to create a "cinch back" bend in round or rectangular wires, preventing the wire from sliding out of the molar tube and ensuring patient comfort during orthodontic treatment. The plier features serrated tips for a secure grip, a compact head for easy access to tight posterior spaces, and long handles for improved control. Made from high-quality, corrosion-resistant stainless steel, it is durable, easy to sterilize, and provides precise, efficient wire manipulation without the need for annealing.
