Identify the male and female connectors of the coupling. The male connector is located on the NSK handpiece, while the female connector is connected to the tubing of the dental unit.

Hold the NSK handpiece with one hand and locate the male connector at the end of the handpiece.

Align the male connector with the female connector on the coupling. Ensure that the connectors are properly aligned to avoid any damage or misalignment.

Depending on the specific mechanism of your QD-J B2/B3 coupling, follow the appropriate steps:

• Push-button mechanism: Press the button on the coupling to release the locking mechanism. Simultaneously, insert the male connector of the handpiece into the female connector of the coupling. Release the button to secure the connection.
• Twist-and-lock mechanism: Rotate the handpiece in a clockwise direction while inserting the male connector into the female connector of the coupling. Continue twisting until you feel a secure lock, indicating that the connection is properly engaged.

Once the handpiece is securely connected to the coupling, ensure that it is stable and there are no loose connections.

Test the connection by activating the dental unit's air and water functions. Check for any air or water leaks around the coupling area. If you notice any leaks, disconnect the handpiece and reattach it, ensuring a proper and secure connection.

Prior to using the handpiece for any dental procedures, adjust the necessary settings (e.g., water spray, air pressure) according to your specific requirements.

When you have completed using the handpiece or need to switch to a different instrument, follow the appropriate steps to disconnect it from the coupling:

• Push-button mechanism: Press the button on the coupling while gently pulling the handpiece away from the coupling. The coupling should release the handpiece.
• Twist-and-lock mechanism: Rotate the handpiece in a counterclockwise direction to unlock it from the coupling. Once unlocked, gently pull the handpiece away from the coupling.

After disconnecting the handpiece, inspect both the coupling and the handpiece for any debris or contamination.
