Initial Situation:

  • Assess and identify tooth 36 with an insufficient composite filling as the target for restoration.

Preparation:

  • Prepare the tooth by removing the existing insufficient composite filling and any additional decay or damaged tissue. This step is essential for creating a clean and suitable surface for the new restoration.

CAD Image of e.max CAD-Restoration:

  • Create a computer-aided design (CAD) image of the e.max CAD restoration, which is a ceramic restoration made from lithium disilicate glass ceramic. This image serves as a digital blueprint for the new restoration.

Try-In of Crystallized and Characterized Restoration:

  • Try in the crystallized and characterized e.max CAD restoration to ensure it fits properly and assess its appearance. Variolink Esthetic Try-In paste (neutral shade) is used for this purpose.

Etching of Prepared Dental Surface with 37% Phosphoric Acid (Total Etch):

  • Condition the prepared dental surface by etching it with 37% phosphoric acid, typically known as Total Etch. This step enhances the bonding between the tooth and the new restoration.

Application of Adhese Universal using the VivaPen:

  • Apply Adhese Universal, a dental adhesive, to the prepared tooth surface. This is often done using the VivaPen for precise and controlled application.

Pre-Polymerization of Excess Material:

  • Pre-polymerize any excess adhesive material by using a dental curing light, such as the Bluephase Style. The quarter technique is employed, with a maximum distance of 10mm and a 2-second exposure per quarter of the restoration.

Convenient Removal of Excess Material with a Scaler:

  • Remove any excess adhesive material using a scaler, ensuring the restoration's fit and appearance are precise.

Application of Glycerin Gel (Liquid Strip):

  • Apply glycerin gel, also known as Liquid Strip, to protect the restoration during the final curing process.

Final Restoration After One Week:

  • The final restoration is typically completed. The patient may return for a follow-up visit after one week to assess the stability and success of the restoration.
  • Excellent shade stability thanks to the patented and reactive light initiator Ivocerin which is 100% amine-free
