  • Preparation: Ensure the patient's mouth is clean and dry. Select an appropriate-sized sheet from the pack of articulating paper.
  • Placement: Using tweezers or gloved fingers, carefully place the articulating paper between the teeth or dental prostheses at the desired location for occlusal assessment. Position the paper strip so that it spans the area of interest and covers the occlusal surfaces involved.
  • Occlusal Contacts: Instruct the patient to perform various mandibular movements, such as biting, grinding, or lateral excursions, depending on the specific diagnostic objectives.
  • Assessment: After the desired mandibular movements have been executed, carefully remove the articulating paper from between the teeth or prostheses.
  • Evaluation: Inspect the marked areas on the articulating paper. High spots and areas of excessive pressure will be indicated by visible blue markings on the paper. Note the location and intensity of the markings to assess occlusal discrepancies.
  • Interpretation: Use the markings as a guide to identify occlusal interferences, premature contacts, or other irregularities in the occlusal relationship.
  • Adjustment: Based on the findings from the articulating paper markings, make appropriate adjustments to the occlusion using dental instruments or through other treatment modalities as necessary.
  • Reassessment: Repeat the process as needed to confirm the effectiveness of occlusal adjustments and ensure optimal occlusal harmony.
  • Excellent color transfer.
  • Easy detection of high spot.
  • Adapts easily to cusps and fossae.

Description

ET Dental Articulating Paper - Soft, smooth, non-sticking, sensitive surface for marking at every point of articulation.

Articulating paper is a diagnostic tool used in dentistry to highlight occlusal contacts and the distribution of occlusal forces. That is, it marks those points on the teeth where the teeth contact during biting and grinding. Articulating paper is made of a thin, non-adhesive paper strip covered in fluorescent ink or dye-containing wax. A strip of articulating paper is placed between the teeth while the desired mandibular movements are performed.
