COMPOSITION

  • Synthetic Gutta-Percha
  • Zinc Oxide
  • Pigment
  • Stearic Acid USP
  • Thiophenol
  • Barium Sulfate
  • Paraffin
  • Zinc Stearate
  • PEG 400

Prepare the root canal:

  • Clean and shape the root canal using standard endodontic techniques.
  • Remove the smear layer if desired, as gutta-percha can penetrate dentinal tubules better without it.

Soften the gutta-percha:

  • Use a heat source to warm the gutta-percha. Electrically heated spreaders or specially designed heat carriers are recommended for this purpose.
  • Ensure that the instruments are only gently warmed to avoid melting the gutta-percha.

Lateral compaction:

  • Select a gutta-percha cone of appropriate size and taper.
  • Fit the cone into the canal carefully, ensuring a snug fit.
  • Use the sharp tip of the heat carrier instrument to laterally compact the softened gutta-percha against the canal walls.
  • Apply gentle pressure and work the instrument back and forth to achieve compaction.
  • Repeat this process with additional gutta-percha cones as necessary, gradually building up the root filling.

Vertical compaction (optional):

  • If desired, use the blunt plugger tip of the heat carrier instrument for limited vertical compaction of the softened gutta-percha in the apical portion of the canal.
  • Apply a continuous wave of heat to soften and down pack a gutta-percha cone, achieving a well-compacted obturation in the apical area.
  • Additional increments of gutta-percha can be added if needed to fill the remaining portion of the canal.

Complete the obturation:

  • Once the desired level of gutta-percha compaction is achieved, remove any excess gutta-percha.
  • Clean the canal of any solvents or debris.
  • Apply a root canal sealer of your choice.
  • Fill the canal completely with a sealer using a suitable technique (e.g., cold lateral compaction, warm vertical compaction, or other preferred method).
  • Ensure proper adaptation of the sealer and gutta-percha to the canal walls.
  • Dentsply Gutta Percha Points 6% Taper is specifically designed for both cold and warm obturation techniques.
  • It provides a tight seal in the root canal.
  • Prevents bacteria from entering the root canal system of the teeth.
  • Designed with self-sterilizing ability.
  • Very easy to place and remove them from the root canal of the teeth.
