Preparation:

• Ensure that you have the necessary dental dam sheet and Wedjets ready for use.
• Confirm that the patient does not have a known latex sensitivity, as latex Wedjets are contraindicated for such patients.

Select the Dental Dam:

• Choose the appropriate size and shape of the dental dam sheet for the procedure.
• Ensure that the dam sheet is properly sterilized if it is not pre-packaged as a sterile product.

Place the Dental Dam:

• Begin by isolating the tooth or teeth you want to work on.
• Carefully stretch and place the dental dam sheet over the isolated area, ensuring it covers the target teeth.

Insert the Wedjets:

• Take a Coltene Wedjet - Small (Latex), which is the yellow, small-sized elastic stabilizing cord.
• Gently insert the Wedjet between the teeth, sliding it under the dental dam to secure it in place.
• Ensure that the Wedjet is positioned securely and snugly between the teeth, holding the dental dam firmly.

Repeat as Needed:

• Depending on the number of teeth isolated, you may need to insert additional Wedjets as required.
• Ensure that each Wedjet is placed securely to prevent any leakage or movement of the dental dam.

Verify Dry Field:

• Check that the dental dam provides a dry and isolated operating field.
• Confirm that there are no gaps or loose edges in the dam.

Proceed with Dental Procedure:

• With the dental dam securely in place using the Wedjets, you can now proceed with the intended dental procedure with improved visibility and infection control.

Disposal:

• After use, dispose of the Wedjets and dental dam sheet as per your facility's infection control protocols.
