Preparation:

Positioning the Patient:

Placing the Ligature:

• The Tucker instrument can be used to place the ligature wire or elastic ligature around the brackets of the archwire.
• The instrument is typically used to apply elastic ligatures or small wire ligatures that hold the archwire in place on the bracket.
• Grasp the instrument firmly, and use the tips to position the ligature wire or elastic around the bracket.
• For wire ligatures, the instrument may also be used to twist and tighten the ligature around the bracket to ensure it is secure.
  

Securing the Ligature:

• After placing the ligature around the bracket, the instrument can be used to tighten it gently, ensuring the archwire is securely held in place, applying appropriate pressure without damaging the surrounding tissues.
• For elastic ligatures, the instrument can also help to place them evenly around each bracket.
